Bone appetite, Frankenstein

First things first, sorry for the lack of posts these past few days, just been super busy! But with Halloween just a matter of days away [wooooooooooooooo], it is time to get that broomstick outta the closet, bandage up your body and to sharpen them fangs ready for some tasty food.

Due to Halloween being my favourite day of the year, I have done a little blog series to celebrate it. First we had a hauntingly dead makeup look, then some nail biting claws and now, a spooky treat to sink your fangs into. These easy to make Frankenstein marshmallow crispies!

These are perfect for a scary Halloween party or as a delicious treat whilst watching horror films [or kids Halloween films in my case] and snuggled into a blanket!

So bone appetite, Frankenstein...

What you will need:
Little bit of butter
Marshmallows
Rice Crispies
Green food dye
Chocolate [milk and white]
A square tin
A medium pan and wooden spoon
A small pan and small heatproof bowl
-You can use small edible eyes instead of the chocolate if you wish-
What to do now:
1. Melt the marshmallows on a low-medium heat in the medium frying pan. You might need to add a little bit [and I mean a little bit] of butter to stop it sticking to it.
2. Once the marshmallows have melted, add your green food dye, a few drops at a time until you get the right colour of green you want. Add the rice crispies a bit at a time whilst stirring. You will need to be quick as they do start setting start away! Leave to cool and set completely.
3. Onto the decoration now, once the treats have set, cut them up into rectangles to create Frankenstein's head.
4. For his hair, melt some of the milk chocolate and taking a knife or a teaspoon, cover the top of the head, maybe a finger nail long depending on how big the rectangle is! For his mouth, again taking the milk chocolate, draw a straight line going across his face [not from side to side though] and draw 3-4 lines going down that line like this: --|--|--|--, if that helps!
5. Taking the white chocolate, melt that then take maybe a cocktail stick or a blunt cutlery knife, and dab it in a little. Now draw two circles for his eyes. Leave that to set for a bit, and do the same with the milk chocolate but putting that in the centre of the white chocolate eyes. And voila, you should have a cute little Frankenstein's monster!
And the final spooktacular treat...

Like I said before, these are perfect if you are having a Halloween themed party or having a late night in watching scary films. They are also perfect if you have little monsters as the decorations are fun to do! You could even make pumpkin crispies if you add orange food dye instead of green, shape them into flat balls and maybe add a rolo or a chocolate matchstick for the stalk.
Cannot wait to eat these with a hot chocolate whilst watching kids Halloween films and snuggled in bed with my blanket!
Ohhhh I just utterly adore Halloween!
...
And there we have it, bone appetite!
Until next time
