My week in London, August 2015 (Part One)

Sorry I haven't posted in a while, been really busy and very tired however a nice and simple post today...

Between the 24th-28th August, my mother and I visited the UKs capital city, London.

We planned our trip beforehand but there are so many weird and wonderful things to do in London that we had an action packed week to say the least.

Leicester Square: a taste of what's to come!

Due to the fact we went for five days, I will split this into five parts. Part One (this post) will be on the first two days (Mon 24th and Tues 25th), Part Two on Wed 26th, Part Three on Thurs 27th and Part Four on Fri 28th. The final part will just be a fashion post like I did last time to show you my take on the London Look.

So let us begin and join me in My week in London...

A fruity edible concoction

First thing first, I am away in London next week so there wont be another post until next Sunday however I will do another My London Adventures again.

With that out of the way, its that time of week again.... Sunday Baking Series!!!!

Great British Bake Off is certainly heating up and this recipe will definitely make your eyes light up with glee like they do on the programme... A meringue with chocolate, berries and whipped cream.

My mum saved this recipe from a magazine she bought and I can't find it. However, this recipe from BBC Food Website is similar.

Welcome to berry, creamy heaven...

Oh I do like to be beside the seaside, A trip to Saltburn

So yesterday, me and the family visited the beautiful seaside town of Saltburn in the North East. For someone who hates (and I mean hate) the sand, Saltburn has to be one of my favourite places to go.

The chips, the ice cream, the sea, the pier, the arcade and so much more. It is a lovely little place to go if you have kids, a dog or to jus relax in the sun with friends and family (that is, if we ever get any sun!)...

I will be showing you our trip to Saltburn as well as tasty treats both edible and inedible so sit back, relax, play some sea waves on a device as here is my "Oh I do like to be beside the seaside| A trip to Saltburn"....

Who doesnt love banana bread?

That time of week again when I will be showing you a recipe in celebration of the Great British Bake Off being back on our TV screen. (Click here to see the first delicious recipe in the series)

This weeks is going to be something simple, easy and quick: Banana Bread.

I, for one, love bananas so this is perfect for those who love the yellow fruit too!
This recipe is from BBC Recipe website and is by John Barrowman.

Prepare to go bananas for this...

Perseids Meteor Shower, My Photographs

So during the last couple of nights, loads of us have been sitting outside in our gardens or fields etc to witness something incredibly beautiful- the Perseids Meteor Shower.

Last night, I grabbed my camera, put on my big coat and walked outside to the field next to my house to see if I could glimpse the fantastic sights in the night sky.

The white line is a meteor.
Here is my "Perseids Meteor Shower| My Photographs"...

A-Level results day, My Advice

So today marks the day when A-Level students find out if they have got the grades they are hoping for/wanting to get into the uni of their choice. Your palms were sweaty, you are nervous, scared to open that envelope.
Two years ago, I was one of those students.

I feel like there is a lot of pressure of pupils to get good grades to get into uni and sometimes this pressure causes stress and sometimes these students don't do so well on their exams as they hoped to.

Here is my "You're going to uni!| My advice"...

Nectarine and Raspberry Pavlova

So it is that time of year again... The highlight of my year... The time that when you are watching it you what to eat everything...

The Great British Bake Off is back!!!

I (as well as sooooooo many other people) absolutely adore this BBC smash hit TV programme so much so that whilst Series 6 is on, every Sunday I will be baking a tasty treat from different recipes books/websites.

With this being the first of the series, I decided to bake something summery scrumptious, perfect for those sunny days, a Nectarine and Raspberry Pavlova from Tesco's Real Food website.

Prepare to have your mouth watering and taste bud tingling...

A blog update!

So as you may or not have noticed, I have changed the name of my blog.
Goodbye to 'The Adventures of Caroline' and hello to Geek meets Chic!

Don't worry, the concept is still the same with the blog in the fact that the content and posts will be on the same things and I wont change my social media usernames. Its just that I wanted a name that suits me and my personality better than my original title. I am a self confessed geek/nerd with a love for fashion and beauty therefore Geek meets Chic has been born.

Due to the new name, I will hopefully do a lot more posts centred on my fangirl side, basically thing that I obsess over, whether it is a band, tv show, film etc so keep an eye out for reviews of them or general posts about them!

There you have it! I hope you all like my blog's new name.
Until next time

Stripes and Silver

A quick post today but none the less, a good one!
The other week I went to Primark (surprise, surprise) looking for a stripy top. Stripes are very much in and although I don't like to follow the trend, I do love a good stripe.

This will basically show you the bargain top I bought and an outfit I love to wear it with! Simple as that!

So here is my "Stripes and Silver"...

On the topic of hunting

Aghhhhhh sorry I haven't posted in a while, I have been so busy this past week so I haven't had the chance to write/post anything. However, I am back with something that has broken mine and millions around the worlds hearts.

The tragic killing of Cecil the Lion (pictured below) in Zimbabwe, Africa, by an American Dentist has been one of the main stories of the week. Cecil was lured out of the sanctuary and was shot with a bow and arrow. Apparently his body was found 40 hours later, where he was shot with a gun. He was then skinned and his head was removed.
During the past week, the media coverage and people taking to social networking sites to convey utter outrage (and quite rightly so!) has made this one of the biggest stories so far of 2015 in my eyes.

And to make matters worse... It was also reported later on last week that Cecil brother, Jericho, was illegally killed.

Clearly both of the lion's death in such a short period of time has caused a debate that has been going on for ages now... Is it right to hunt animals?

So here is my "On the topic of hunting"...
