Who knew Halloween could be so tasty

In case you hadn't have guessed it already October is my favourite month of the year... Simply because it has my favourite day of the year in it and that is Halloweeeeeeeeen! I LOVE this day, from the dressing up, scary makeup to decorating the house (yes I am 21 and still decorate my house in Halloween things) and most importantly, the free sweets! Who doesn't love free sweets!!?!?!?!!

For this month's bake in my Bake and Make series, I decided to create something so sickly sweet but something to sink your vampire fangs into, Halloween piñata biscuits!

Basically, these are spooky biscuits with a hidden surprise within them! This mouth watering recipe is from Baking Mad website and boyyyyyy, they were SO easy to do!

So here is 'Halloween Pinata Biscuits'...
This recipe is from Baking Mad, I have changed it a bit for my personal taste but no copyright intended.

Ingredients:

225g 8 oz Butter (unsalted) softened
125g 4½ oz Unrefined golden caster sugar
1tbsp Vanilla bean paste (I used vanilla extract as we didn't have any of this in)
300g 10⅝ oz Plain white flour plus extra for rolling out
Mini smarties treat size packets (I used Halloween sprinkles instead)
50g 1⅞ oz Icing sugar (I used melted chocolate instead as I don't like icing haha)

What to do now:

Beat the butter, sugar and vanilla bean (extract for me) together until it has become pale and fluffy. Sift in the flour and mix just until a soft dough is formed. Wrap in cling film and chill for a minimum of 1 hour.
Preheat the oven to 180C/ 160C fan/ gas mark 4. Line 2 baking trays with non stick baking parchment. On a well floured surface, roll out the dough until 3mm thick (I did mine thicker and it was too much for one biscuit so do this). Using your selected cutters, cut out three of the same shape and transfer to the baking tray. Repeat with any remaining dough, chill for 10 minutes on the trays. After this, take a knife and cut out of the centre of one of the shaped cookies.
You should have two whole ones and one cut out biscuit.

Two full ones and one cut out in the middle to make one biscuit!
Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes until pale golden in colour. Remove and allow the biscuits to cool before transferring to a wire rack.
Once cooled, mixed the icing sugar with a little water until it create a paste. Use a small amount of this to glue a cut out cookie to a full one. Fill the cut out biscuits with your chosen sweets (or sprinkles in my case) but not over filling it! Put a little more of the icing onto the edges of the cut out biscuit, trying not to touch the sweets, and place the top full biscuit over. Allow to dry for a bit so it is secure!
Stick the biscuits together and fill the cut out one
with sprinkles or sweets then place icing around the edges
for the final full biccy!
Decorate the cookie, whatever the shape is. They used ready to roll icing and added the desired colour to match the shape.
I melted both Caramacs and Cadbury's button chocolate, using the latter to cover the bats (and placed little circle sprinkles for its eyes) and the faces of the pumpkins/ghosts and the Caramacs for the pumpkins and ghosts, covering all of the biscuits for all three.

And the final ghoulish sweet treats...

I love how easy these where to do and to make them even more hair raisingly good, they are SO tasty mmmm!
Like I said before, I did mine a bit too big so my biscuits were huge, but yours shouldn't be if you got the dough to 3mm.
These are perfect if you are having a Halloween themed party or if you have little monsters at home!
Well there you have it! A spookily brilliant biscuit with a bat-tastic surprise inside!
Until next time
