Five things I hate about blogging
Ahhh the wonderful world of blogging certainly has its ups and downs. One minute I love it, the next something annoys me. For the most part though I blooming love blogging, it has given me so much confidence in myself and my skills, I have met amazing people through it and had a lot of fun along the way in terms of writing and designing!
However, it isn't all flat lay photos, pretty flowers and unicorns as aspects of this world annoy the hell out of me.
So here are the things I hate about blogging...
The numbers game
MY BIGGEST PET PEEVE IN BLOGGING. This is going to be a long one...
If you follow me on twitter then you will probably of seen my massive rant that wasn't supposed to be a rant but it totally was a rant about how blogging has changed for the worse recently. It has become farrrr tooooo focused on stats and popularity and not about the passion and the person behind the post.
NEVER EVER think that you are not a good blogger just because you haven't had brands working with you or a certain amount of blog views because you are fabulous! You should be blogging for yourself and not because you think it will get you followers or money, they are both bonuses. I understand posts take a hell of a long time to create and it is disheartening when you only get a certain amount of views but you should be writing content that you would want to read and that you are interested in/passionate about because what is the point of having a blog when your not even interested in the posts! Don't get me wrong, I am buzzing when I hit a certain follower goals on social media or views on a post, I will admit that, but it isn't the end of the world if I don't because it isn't a priority for me. There is so much pressure on bloggers to be amazing the second they start. They're not. I, for one, just cringeeeeeeeee at my older posts and I am sure other bloggers do too.
Blogging is a journey and you find out what your strengths and weaknesses are, what you like and don't like etc. It takes time and it can be disheartening at times but it is worth it if it makes you happy.
Basically, I don't care how many views you have or how many followers you have, I care about the content and most importantly, the person behind the blog.
Blogging has become this numbers game that I don't want to play.

Taking Photographs
With every blog post comes with a photograph or about 20.
Now I blooming love photography, have done since the start of college [five years ago, I feel so old]!
Now I blooming love photography, have done since the start of college [five years ago, I feel so old]!
Over this year or so, I have been trying to up my photography game and I have improved a lot since I first started out blogging.
However, there are a couple of things that bug me about taking pics for my blog.
1) Trying to come up with new and visually pleasing photos. Focused? Bright? Colourful? These are three things that are always in my head when taking a pic and honestly it stresses me out sometimes.
2) White and marble backgrounds everywhere. Now, I have noooooooo problem if you want to have an all white background or marble effect (heck, sometimes I do it) but if you are consistently taking pics like this then I get bored of it. There seems to be a trend of this lately and see people's blog post with over exposed pictures puts me off. Like I said, I have nothing against the bloggers who do it, this isn't personal etc, but I love to see a bit of colour in a picture.
Organisation
Create a blogging schedule they said, it will make you organised they said. Well not for me! I have always been organised, it gives me satisfaction in life [is that sad] and I normally write me posts on a Sunday or on a night time, it is when I am free and can actually be bothered to blog.
For about a year now, I have been trying to post every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, with the except of a few blog posts that I had to publish on a different day.
However, trying to keep this up with a busy life is proper hard and sometimes I miss a day or two.
I don't know how bloggers keep to their schedule but if you do, then I am applauding you so much right now!
Linking to social media
After you press that publish button for a post, then next step is to share the post on your social media accounts. If you are like me and have about 5 different accounts, it is so annoying when you miss one, particularly Instagram for me, or you don't hashtag properly or you forget to pin it to Pinterest from Bloglovin. Even whilst writing this section, I am thinking about what platforms to share this post on and to make sure I do it.
Copying other bloggers post
The next thing I hate about blogging is when bloggers copy other bloggers posts.
Now to clear this up. A lot of bloggers do the same style post, you cannot help that in this world. However, if it is an original post the blogger has come up with, if you ask the blogger and give them credit in the post then fair enough. Do not just copy and paste the post, word for word or even changing it slightly, and pass it off as your own. Just no. Stop it.

Well there you go, five things I hate about blogging!
Until next time
-------------------------------------
Copying other bloggers posts is AWFUL! It seems an all too common thing as I've heard on Twitter :( Also sometimes I just get sick of all the organizing hehe! What I tend to do is literally bash out 6 or 7 posts when I'm feeling inclined, and then just eek them out?

I know right, like why copy posts, I just don't get it! And same here to b honest, it helps me to write my posts out! x
DeleteI actually really love organising my blog (is that sad?) and while I haven't always been able to stick to a schedule, I have been publishing posts every third day now for a while. It just seems to work nicely for me! I totally agree with you on the marble, over exposed photo thing though. There is just SO much of that out there that it's getting kind of boring. I've kept my layout pretty basic and monochrome, purely so I can have bright and colourful photos! This was such a great post, Caroline!

I love organising and being organised but sometimes I'm just like no. And I am sooooo glad it isn't just me who thinks this about the photos but thank you so much, glad you like it! x
DeleteTotally agree about the Marble backgrounds. They're bloody everywhere! Yawn! It's good to create original content that is you. In loving your blog, we chatted on twitter earlier during a Blogger chat! Over from littleowlblogs.wordpress.com xo
ReplyDeleteEVERYWHERE. I am sooooooo sick of seeing them now! And awww, thank you, we should talk more! x
DeleteI love to use a marble background but not all the time, I find it boring too if someone uses the same background for everything and puts me off from reading the post. I personally like my photos to be different and I use various backgrounds and props every time.

I like seeing them once in a while but when someone uses them in every photo, I just get bored! And same, it makes me want to return to the blog and read it more with different, interesting pictures! x
DeleteI totally agree with your points on here, and it is a relief that I am not the only one who gets kind of (very) annoyed. I feel like blogging has become less about passion and more about giving false perceptions (especially Instagram). Thank you for sharing <3
ReplyDeleteMe too, I am soooooooooooo glad it isn't just me! And sameee, like post whatever you want, who cares about Instagram themes etc, like should post whatever you want, on your blog too! x
